Using Your Intuition To Help Your Animal Friends
Maggie and Nigel Percy

As someone who is interested in intuition, you might be surprised in how many ways your intuition can enhance your relationship with your pets and improve the quality of their lives. Here is a partial list of things you can do with your intuition:

  • Communicate with your pet
  • Help resolve behavior problems
  • Create a breeding program
  • Find the perfect home for an animal
  • Design a training program
  • Select a trainer
  • Find out if your animal wants to compete or be bred
  • Create the perfect nutritional program
  • Determine basic facts about the health of your animal
  • Find solutions to health problems
  • Find lost pets
  • Select a toy, bed or other item for your pet
  • Fit a saddle
  • Choose the best feed
  • Help resolve multiple pet challenges
  • Discover environmental problems and resolve them

Remember, this is a PARTIAL list. Whenever you interact with your animal friend, you can enhance your results by actively employing your intuition in some fashion. If you are buying food, breeding animals, competing in shows or dealing with problem behavior, you are handicapping yourself if you are NOT using your intuition. Instead, you are probably just doing what someone told you to do, not knowing whether it really applies to your animal or not. Experts are wonderful resources, but one size does not fit all when it comes to animals. They are as individual as humans. Plus, time-honored traditions in animal training and feeding are being replaced by better methods all the time. Don't just treat your new dog the way your parents did when you were a kid. There may be a better way!

Why Use Your Intuition?

Applying your intuition allows you to get things right the first time! It is a waste of time, money, effort and emotions to try things that don't work. Can you recall a time when you tried over and over to resolve a behavior problem with your pet? Or a health problem? Wouldn't it be great if you could be assured of success the first time? With the proper use of your trained intuition, you can be!

How To Use Your Intuition

How can you learn to use your intuition to assist your animal friends? There are a variety of ways:

  • Learn to dowse
  • Learn animal communication techniques
  • Practice simple attention

Dowsing

Dowsing is an intuitive technique that anyone can learn. There are many tools that can be used to dowse, including a pendulum and the body. Dowsing can get answers to any question you have about your companion animal. It can be a very accurate technique that saves you time, effort and money. Muscle testing or kinesiology is a variant of dowsing that uses the body as a tool, and it can also be learned rather easily and applied to answer questions you may have about your pet. Anyone can learn to dowse.

Animal Communication

Animal communication can be used to find out all kinds of things about your animal friend. There are many books and courses that teach people simple and advanced animal communication techniques. We offer one here at the Intuition Center . Anyone can learn to communicate with animals. However, it often takes patience, practice and persistence to reach the level of confidence most people would like to have.

What if you don't want to study a technique or take a course? Can you still learn to apply your intuition to your interaction with your pets? Of course! In fact, this can be the best way to start, and it combines very well with ANY other intuitive technique you might apply. It begins with simple attention. One of the reasons people don't 'hear' their intuition speaking to them is that they are always multi-tasking, and their minds are full of chatter. If you want to use your intuition for anything, then you will find it works best if you focus single-mindedly on the subject you are interested in. In this case, that means pay attention to your pet when interacting with him/her. Don't be absent or thinking of anything else.

Focus totally on the moment and the interaction. You may choose not to speak. But look clearly into the eyes of your friend. I like to speak out loud, but whether you say it or think it, send a message of love in some way. Be still, and see what comes back to you. If you allow all of your senses to relax and be open, you may sense a response from your friend. You may see or feel a response. Or perhaps you just 'feel' that your pet responded in some way. Whether you receive the response through your physical or intuitive senses doesn't matter.

Some animals are better subjects for this than others. If you are a busy person with a lot of mind chatter, perhaps you have a pet who is like you. That might make it challenging if one day you decide to try this exercise. If your pet is also busy and can't focus, you may not connect very well. Don't give up. Do try this with your most relaxed, receptive and focused pet first. And don't expect particular results. Just try it. Then do it again. Keep doing this until you do feel you are connecting well and receiving some kind of response for your efforts.

Even if your dog yawns, that is a response. Eye blinks, sneezing, shaking the head, vocalizing, ears changing position: these are all ways animals communicate. They use their body language, and you will need to start learning what that is. This is going to be harder with a fish or a reptile, but even then, it can be done. I can remember an instance where I spoke to a praying mantis, and it swung its head and focused it huge eyes on me. I KNEW it was responding. (That was just before it bit me, a type of response you DON'T want..)

To make it easier on yourself, I would suggest you start out with a dog or cat that loves you dearly, and would love the attention. That will give you greater chances of quick success. Then move on to the more challenging species.

Practice Simple Attention

This method is so obvious and simple that it is often overlooked. Our culture values expensive techniques that take years to learn. While that may measure value in some situations, in life, the things that work simply and reliably for the least effort and money are actually the most valuable. Not the reverse. Think about it; it's true.
If you will slow down and take the time to just pay attention to your animal, you will gain so much. Just sit with her, talk to her, stroke her. Play a game she likes. Watch how she looks and acts. Get to know her emotional condition based on these things. Pretty soon, you will know when your dog or cat is asking to go out, be fed or be played with. It takes a little time and attention, but that is all. You will be amazed at how much better you communicate with any animal in your life if you do this simple thing.

Advantages Of Using Your Intuition

Why should you bother to learn to use your intuition with your pets?

  • You can:
  • Save money
  • Save time
  • Save heartache
  • Possibly save a life

These are things that matter to everyone. Here are some examples: Your dog has diarrhea. You aren't sure what it could have been exposed to, as it was running free lately. Should you take it to the vet? You can't get out of the vet's office these days without paying $50, often more. Plus you may have to take time off from work to take your pet to the veterinarian. That costs you time off from your job, if you have paid leave, or you lose money by not being able to work. However, if you choose to hold off and wait and see, and the dog quickly declines into a dangerous illness, you know you will be very upset that you waited. Plus it will then probably cost you MORE money, time and effort to get the animal cured. Or if you really wait too long, it could be terminal. So how can you be sure of the best course of action?

With the help of your intuition, you can know what is going on with your dog. You can determine if the condition requires medical attention, or will resolve on its own. You can determine whether it is appropriate to medicate the dog at home. You can even determine the cause of the symptoms. Nigel and I do this all the time, and believe me, we have saved a ton of money by knowing when it ISN'T necessary to go to the vet with an animal. [Please do NOT rely solely on intuitive techniques until you are confident of your accuracy, or better yet, start using it in situations that are NOT life-threatening.]

The Two Key Points

What if you want to use your intuition, but you aren't able to trust it? That is a good point. Many novice dowsers and intuitives are afraid to use their abilities in a situation that is life or death. Don't rely totally on your intuition unless you feel comfortable doing so. As a rule, it takes time to develop a level of confidence that will allow you to successfully use your intuition in serious situations. Start out with the simple technique described above. Use your intuition for communication, training, solving behavior problems and things that are NOT life and death. Build confidence through your success. Then, when the time is right, you will be able to use your intuition to deal with serious issues.

The second key point is that if you don't use your intuition with your animal friend, you will never acquire confidence. It is much like building physical muscles and strength. So practice is the key. Use your intuition on a daily basis, and it will grow strong, just as muscles grow strong if you work out regularly.
