Intuition
in the palm of your handLet's start out by saying that intuition can be summed up as a way of getting information other than through your normal five senses of touch, taste, hearing, sight, and smell.
Now, what I'm going to describe might, at first glance, seem to ignore that rule. But I'll explain a little later why it really is intuitive.
What follows might not be something everyone can do right away. For some it might mean a little practice. For others, a lot of practice, but it's something everyone can do. Promise!!
Sit comfortably and hold your hands a little apart, with the palms facing each other. Start with them about a foot or so apart.
Very slowly and gently, bring them nearer to each other, keeping the palms facing each other. As you bring them closer, so you can begin to alert your senses in your hand to feel out anything which you are not normally aware of.
I'm not going to describe what you should feel precisely, because it depends on each person's sensitivity. But it will help you in this if you think of having two magnets or beams of light in the center of your palms. As you bring them together so they begin to interact. When you feel a certain resistance, as if your hands are having to push a little harder for some reason, stop and see how close or far apart they are.
Now, very gently, begin to 'bounce' your hands, as if they are bouncing off this invisible barrier. Feel what it feels like. Explore it. See if you can get this feeling further out next time. See if you can associate a color with it, or a sound or a smell or whatever. Does something come to mind about it?
Gently move your hands so that the palms are at right angles to each other, as if you were going to clasp your hands together. Now wiggle them gently and slowly to and fro, with the palms near and directly opposite each other. Does it feel different? How? In what way?
Again, take your time to experiment here.
Afterwards, take a moment to relax a bit and think about what just happened. If you've never done this before, then you've had a great new experience. If you have done it before, was it better or worse?
Now, how can that be intuition?
Well, for a start, if you've never done it before, then you've suddenly gained some knowledge about yourself, your body that you didn't have previously. And you got it in a very strange way. OK, so you were using touch (sort of) except that you weren't actually touching anything. You were using the idea of touch, if you like. What you did with that information you got through this 'almost touching' would have been very different from the next person who did this.
And that's where the real idea of intuition comes in. It is something which can't really be dictated. You did this in your way, you got your own reactions to whatever you got and it affected you in whatever way that was.
Intuition is like that. It is not something that two people can share exactly the same experiences about. It's entirely personal. It's up to you to make of it what you will. And that can be a little scary at times.
But there's always someone who can help. There are always people who you can turn to. There are books to read, courses to take (see this one here), because although it's entirely personal, intuition is also a common theme amongst the whole of humanity.
Although you might feel at times as if you're on your own, just bounce the energy between your palms and know that everyone can do this and everyone can understand about it even if they can't always talk about it in the same way.
And THAT'S what intuition truly is.
Then answer is, literally, in your hands!
