You Intuitive?Do you think intuition is a gift that only some people have? Do you feel women are more intuitive than men? Do you think intuition is something you can develop or strengthen? Does it seem to you that intuition is just a tool that can be used in some circumstances, or do you see it in a broader sense as a way of interacting with your environment on a daily basis? Do you think YOU are intuitive?
One of many ways to begin to understand human intuition is to study the psychology of Carl Jung and the personality theory of Isabel Briggs Myers. Jung long ago proposed that man has two distinctly different ways of perceiving: sensing and intuition. Sensing has to do with gathering information using the five physical senses. Intuition, on the other hand, is an indirect method of perception involving the unconscious. As Myers emphasizes in her book, all humans have BOTH methods within them. Therefore, any perception of intuition as a special 'gift' wrongly relegates intuition to fringe status, rather than accepting it as a normal human capacity. And it contradicts a fundamental belief that Nigel and I share with Jung and Myers.
